Description

It was isolated in a separate species by the combination of morphological [2] and genetic characters. [3] The coat on the back is golden brown; on the belly it is light yellow. In the middle of the muzzle is a strip of white hair from the forehead to the nose. Weight from 40 to 70 grams depending on the season. Externally, the representatives of the species resemble a gray mouse lemur ( Microcebus murinus ), differing from them in a longer and thiner tail. Unlike Microcebus murinus, these primates move irregularly through the forest.

Distribution

They are found in the dry deciduous forests of Ankarafantsika National Park in northwestern Madagascar. [2] Separates the area with gray mouse lemur with which he has sympathy . These two species occupy different ecological niches in their range. [4] Golden-brown mouse lemurs prefer low-lying moist places close to water sources, while gray mouse lemurs are more common on higher elevations and in drier parts of the forest farther from water sources. [four]

Behavior

Nocturnal animals. They sleep on tree branches or in nests of vines and fallen leaves. [5] [6] [7] The habitat is distributed among family groups that do not exhibit territorial behavior. [5] [7] A 2009 study (S. Thoren et al.) Showed that both nursing and non-nursing females build nests. [6] Construction of the nest takes place during the first night hours and takes about one hour. Nests are made from small twigs and fallen leaves. [6]
