“The book about Asker” (“Kitabi-Askeriya” [1] ; Azeri. Kitabi-Əsgəriyyə ) is the story of the Azerbaijani scientist and educator Abbas-Kuli-aga Bakikhanov , written in 1837 [2] . This is the second prose work of Bakikhanov [2] . The story tells of the mutual love of a young man and a girl pursued by a fanatical environment [3] . In the story “The Book of Asker,” Bakikhanov talked about freedom of love and opposed prejudice [1] .

The book on Asker was published in St. Petersburg in 1861 , in the Compilation of the Tatar-Azerbaijani Language Textbook by Azeri Qəvaidi-Zuiyyə , compiled by Mirza Abulgasan-bek Vezirov. In this publication, the author published the Book of Asker, simplifying and making abbreviations in places. The critical text of the manuscript found in the city of Guba in the Ardebillilar mosque and sent to the manuscript fund of the Nizami Institute of Language and Literature in Baku was published in 1946 in the first volume of the institute’s publications [2] .
