Dazu ( Chinese р 大 足 , pinyin : Dàzú ) is the district of urban subordination of the city of central submission to Chongqing ( PRC ). It is named after the Dazuchuan River.

History
Under the Tang Empire, in 758, Dazu County was formed here. Under the Yuan Empire in 1290, it became part of Hezhou (合 州); under the Ming Empire, it was restored in 1371. Under the Qing Empire, in 1662, the county was annexed to Rongchang County, and in 1728 it was restored.
In 1974, the Shuangqiao District (双桥 区) was formed as part of Chongqing.
In 2011, by the decision of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Dazu County and the Shuangqiao District were disbanded, and the Dazu District was created in their place.

Attractions
- The Dazu cave artifacts included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as “the exclusive embodiment of a harmonious synthesis of Buddhism , Taoism and Confucianism ”.
