After the tragedy of January 20, 1990, this monument was removed [1] . The memorial complex "January 20" began construction in October 2009. The opening of the monument took place on January 20, 2010. The ceremony was attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev , head of the presidential administration Ramiz Mehdiyev , deputies of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan , head of the executive power of the Yasamal district Ibrahim Mehdiyev, as well as families of victims of the tragedy [2] .
The total area of the complex is 1500 m² [3] . The height of the monument together with the pedestal is 8 m . The monument depicts a group of people determined to not miss troops in their city; some of them have already fallen. On the granite pedestal of the monument, 147 names of the victims of the tragedy are carved in gold letters [2] . Also on the pedestal are the words of Heydar Aliyev [3] :
January 20, 1990 entered the history of Azerbaijan as one of the most tragic days, at the same time as the page of the heroism of our people.
