In 1989, Nissan decided to enter the US market with a luxury line of cars to compete with Honda , which created Acura back in 1986, and Toyota , which that year created Lexus . To do this, the company has created a division of Infiniti [1] . One of the first three models created on the basis of Nissan cars, became the sedan Infiniti G20 P10. It was the rebuilt and improved Nissan Pulsar GTI-R , which began production in the same year. It was shown at the New York Auto Show -1989 and began to be produced on July 10, 1990 as a 1991 model year car.
Engine and equipment
There was no choice in the engines - it was the only 2-liter petrol four - cylinder in - line unit from the Nissan Sentra and Nissan 200SX models . The choice was a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission . The front suspension was three-lever , for the back was chosen an unusual scheme - MacPherson strut .
As standard, there were disc brakes with ABS , anti-theft system , power mirrors, windows and locks, Bose audio system [2] , cruise control, air conditioning , as well as leather steering wheel and gear shift lever. Grade higher had leather seats, heated mirrors, electric windows on the roof, and in the highest configuration were electric seats and keyless access to the salon. There were also 2 options packages - Touring and Sport, which had a sports salon and exterior ( spoiler ).
Restyling
The first restyling of the car was in 1993, when the dual airbags were replaced with seat belts , side moldings began to be painted in the color of the car, 6 speakers of the audio system appeared, and leather upholstery and keyless entry were standard.
In 1994, there was a second restyling, which included a new chrome grille and large 195 / 65R14 rims. Then there was a package of options Touring.
The last sedan was released July 19, 1996, instead it was decided to release the Infiniti I30 . A total of 92,599 cars were produced [3] .

The interior equipment is better: climate control , leather seats, double-DIN Bose player , keyless entry, sunroof, side airbags appeared as standard . There are new gearboxes: 6-speed manual and 5-speed automatic from Aisin-Warner .
