Baudolin (c. 700 - c. 740 ) is the holy hermit of Alessandria . Memorial Day is the first Sunday after November 10th .
St. Baudolin was a native of the Forum Fulvii (modern Villa del Foro ), a village on the banks of the Tanaro River , in the north-west of modern Italy . He lived during the time of Liutprand , the king of the Lombards . Being descended from a noble family, he handed out all his possessions to the poor and settled in a wretched hut on the banks of the river. According to the writings of Paul Deacon , he was known for his insight and gift of wonderworking.
Saint Baudolin is considered the patron saint of the city of Alessandria . He is portrayed in episcopal vestments surrounded by geese, deer and other animals who, according to legend, loved to listen to him.
