Biography

Mikhail Malchenko was born on December 25, 1921 in the village of Chaplinka (now a village in the Kherson region of Ukraine ). He graduated from seven classes of the school and the railway school, studied in the flying club. In 1941, Malchenko was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1943 he graduated from the military aviation school of pilots. Since July of the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

By April 1945, the Guard Lieutenant Mikhail Malchenko was a senior pilot of the 136th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment of the 1st Guards Assault Air Division of the 1st Air Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front . By that time, he had made 114 sorties to attack accumulations of military equipment and manpower, inflicting heavy losses on him [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, for “exemplary fulfillment of the command assignments and the courage and heroism shown” of the guard, Lieutenant Mikhail Malchenko was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 6294 [1 ] .

In 1946, with the rank of lieutenant, Malchenko was sacked. He lived in Simferopol , worked as a mechanic, as a pilot in agricultural aviation. He died suddenly on July 19, 1961, was buried at the Military cemetery of Simferopol [1] .
