Geographical position
The city is located in the northwestern part of the region, on the left bank of the Senegal River, on the border with Mauritania , at a distance of approximately 248 kilometers northeast of the country's capital, Dakar . On the opposite bank of the river is the Moorish city of the same name . The absolute height is 45 meters above sea level [1] .
