Plaza ( Rum. Plasă , plural - Plăși ) is the second-order administrative unit of the Kingdom of Romania , intermediate between the county and the commune . The head of the plaza was called praetor and was appointed prefect of the wizard.
History
For the first time, the division of the county into smaller administrative units - the plase - was carried out in 1925 , after the annexation of Bessarabia , Bucovina and Transylvania to Romania.
In 1938 , after the implementation of the new administrative reform and the appearance of tsinuts , the plates were abolished. However, already in 1940, the division into cynuts was abolished, and the division into clans was returned.
In 1941–1944, during the occupation of the Moldavian SSR and part of the Ukrainian SSR by Romania, smaller units of the former Bessarabian provinces (the governorship of Bessarabia and Bukovina ) were called placats; the smaller units of the counties of the rest of the occupied territory ( Transnistria Governorate ) were called raionul.
On September 6, 1950, the law on the new territorial structure of Romania came into force. The regions were enlarged, while the counties became known as regions ( room Regiune ), and the plase - areas ( room Raionul ).
In February 1968, the system of the counties was returned, and the counties ceased to be divided into places.
In 2010, it was proposed to divide the counties into smaller administrative units - the cantons ( Canton ), which would correspond to the abolished placards.
