Burial place

Burial - a type of burial of the deceased when the burial is carried out in close proximity to an existing grave or in the same grave.

History

Burial places are found since ancient times. Use of the practice of burial was discovered in the study of the Gaudo necropolis - the Paleolithic necropolis in the archaeological area of Paestum . In the mine tombs of Mesopotamia (27th century BC), Mycenaean Greece (about 17th century BC) and Mexico [1] (4th century BC), special additional chambers are often found on the sides of the main burial reserved for further burial.

Also, representatives of the culture of spherical amphora , who buried in the already existing megalithic tombs of the previous culture of funnel cups, used the burial for the burial of their dead.

A number of cultures left tribal burial grounds, which were created by the burial of representatives of the younger generations into the graves of older representatives of the clan. [2]

Modernity

In modern times, burial, as a rule, is carried out near a relative’s grave (according to sanitary rules at a distance of not less than 1 meter) or after mineralization expires over the previous burial in the same grave [3] . This practice is most often used in old cemeteries where new burials are prohibited or there are no empty spaces. In addition, burial can be carried out in mass graves [4] , as well as memorials and monuments [5] , if the deceased is related to the events to which they are dedicated.

Although in most cases, confirmation of kinship is required for burial, often there are cases when due to lack of places in the cemetery, burial is carried out to unrelated graves - in violation of the law, which further leads to the requirement to rebury the illegally buried.
