Biography

Born on January 12, 1952 in Valuyki (now Belgorod Region ). He began to play football in the team of the Pedagogical Institute in Leninabad . The first coach is L.I. Karpov.

The first team of forward masters was the Dushanbe Pamir , into which Pogorelov moved from an amateur group of the furniture factory of Leninabad . Having played four seasons in the first league, in 1976 the striker was invited to Chernomorets by his former Pamir mentor Akhmed Aleskerov . Alexander's debut in the main part of the “sailors” took place on March 27, 1976 in the match of the 1/16 finals of the USSR Cup with “Yangiyer”. [1] The debut turned out to be successful: the only effective hit of the striker brought the inhabitants of Odessa to the next round.

Having played for Chernomorets for two years, during which Pogorelov invariably became the top scorer, the striker was drafted into Moscow CSKA to serve in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the USSR , after which was not the most successful season in Chornomorets (only 1 goal in 19 matches) , transition to Nikopol Kolos , in which he set a record for first league performance, scoring 6 goals in a match with Spartak from Ordzhonikidze [2] and a fateful move to Dnepropetrovsk .

Pogorelov got to Dnipro at the age of 29. Thanks to his goals, the Dnipropetrovsk club managed to not only stay in the big league in 1981, but also rose to 8th place. That season, the striker scored a handsome goal in the 90th minute (1: 0) to the current winner of the Dynamo Cup in Tbilisi [3] , after which Otari Gabelia threw gloves and, without waiting for the final whistle, went into the locker room. In the first part of the 1983 championship, Pogorelov was the team captain until he was replaced by representatives of the young generation. But it was precisely after Pogorelov’s goal in Kutaisi in the 89th minute (victory 3: 2) that Dnepr first headed the standings and did not give up leadership until the end of the championship.

Having parted with Dnipro, Pogorelov completed his playing career in Nikopol , after which he finally moved to Odessa , where he worked as a coach in youth and amateur football. In the championship of the Odessa region, Pogorelov four times became the top scorer and became the first player to score 100 goals in the major league. The regional federation named the symbolic club of scorers 100 by his name.

The striker left a noticeable mark in veteran football. Playing for Richelieu , he repeatedly became the champion of Ukraine in soccer and futsal , as part of the country's veteran national team in June 2000 won the World Cup, and in 1999 the European Championship, and became the first football player to score in the championships of Ukraine among 50 goals for veterans, as a sign of which the Football Federation of Ukraine established the “Silver Sneaker” - a prize for scorers who reached the line of 50 goals scored [4] .

Pogorelov showed himself as a coach: under his leadership, the Odessa IRIK club became the champion and owner of the Odessa Cup .

In 2001, the forward was included in the list of the best football players of Odessa of the XX century .

Alexander Pogorelov died on October 17, 2007 after a long illness. In memory of him, in August 2012, a match of Sumy veterans - Dnipropetrovsk was held in Sumy . [five]
