Biography
Vasily Malygin was born on November 21, 1905 in the village of Parshino (now the Cherepovets district of the Vologda region ). After graduating from seven grades of the school, he worked in agriculture. In November 1927, Malygin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1928 he graduated from the regimental school, in 1932 - accelerated courses for commanding officers, in 1933 - the Orenburg Military Aviation School of summer flight officers, in 1934 - the courses of navigators at the Yeisk Naval Aviation School for Pilots. He participated in the battles of the Soviet-Finnish war, made 18 sorties [1] .
Since June 1941 - on the fronts of World War II, he was the navigator of the 40th long-range bomber air division of the USSR ADD . In August 1941, Malygin made four sorties as part of a special group to bombard the German capital of Berlin [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 16, 1941 for "courage and heroism shown in battles," Major Vasily Malygin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal [1] .
After the war, Malygin continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In November 1954, with the rank of colonel, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Moscow . He died on July 25, 1976, was buried in the columbarium of the Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow [1] .
He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, two Orders of the Red Banner , the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
