History

The appearance on the market of weapons of compact self-loading Browning pistols and their popularity did not go unnoticed by other manufacturers of weapons. In an effort to gain access to the civilian weapons market, Karl Walter, together with his sons, developed a compact self-loading pistol and tested it. Already in 1909, Walter received a patent for a pistol, which received the name Deutche Selbstlade Pistole Walther, Kaliber 6.35. The name Walther Modell 1 appeared much later when Carl Walter Waffenfabrik launched the next model of a pocket pistol.

Device

Walther Modell 1 is a self-loading pistol, the action of automation of which is based on the recoil of the free shutter . Firing mechanism trigger type. The pistol shutter does not block the barrel from above. The return spring is located under the barrel. Removable store, designed to accommodate six rounds of 6.35 Browning. At the rear of the frame is a fuse that moves laterally relative to the gun frame, blocking the firing pin in the on position. The gun in front of the trigger guard has a button designed to disassemble the weapon.
Walther modell 1 was available in several versions, which differed from each other in device and marking. The main differences are associated with the design of the trigger mechanism, the presence or absence of a button in the back of the frame, for fixing the shutter and disassembling the weapon, the number of grooves on the side surfaces at the back of the shutter, as well as markings on the side surface of the shutter.
