The Chinese Academy of Arts ( Chinese trad. 中國 美術 學院 , ex. 中国 美术 学院 , Pinyin : Zhōngguó Měishù Xuéyuàn ) is one of the first universities in China to offer higher education in the fine arts. It was founded in the city of Hangzhou in Zhejiang province about 180 kilometers south of Shanghai in 1928, the first Minister of Education of the Republic of China Cai Yuanpei and the Chinese artist Lin Fengmyan [1] .

The central campus of the Academy is located on the shores of Lake Sihu , famous for its beauty, which creates excellent natural conditions for art education and leisure students. Nanshan Second Campus is located in the Shangcheng District of Hangzhou City. The third campus is located in Shanghai - Shanghai School of Design.
The International College of the Chinese Academy of Arts has been a structural unit of the Academy since 1980 and is responsible for the education and placement of international students. Among the courses offered are not only the study of the Chinese language and culture, but also Chinese painting , sculpture , calligraphy , the history of art and design.
In total, the Academy has 12 higher schools, institutes and colleges that conduct studies for a bachelor's degree, as well as a master's and doctoral degree in such specialties as visual arts, design, architecture, multimedia and cinema.
Famous Graduates
- Wang Shu is a Chinese architect, dean of the Institute of Architecture of the Chinese Academy of Arts in Hangzhou. In 2012, he became the first Chinese citizen to win the Pritzker Prize.
- Li Xiuqing is a Chinese woman sculptor.
- Zhu Detsun is a French artist of Chinese descent, a member of the French Academy of Fine Arts.
