Tairova Village is the second most populated residential complex (microdistrict) in Odessa , second only to Kotovsky Village . Geographically included in the Kiev region of Odessa . Tairova is a continuous area of predominantly multi-story buildings, stretching from Inglesi Street and the 4th station of the Lustdorf Road in the north to Architects Street in the south. History
Tairov's “Patchwork” was predetermined by history and geography. Even before the revolution, many small settlements appeared on the Big and Middle Fountains , as well as along the Lustdorf Road, connected by a tram line. In the 1950s and 1960s, when the city executive committee began to massively allocate land to Odessa residents for individual construction, the private sector seized a significant part of the future housing estate. The Tairov microdistrict is named after the famous breeder, founder of the Soviet school of viticulture and winemaking - Vasily Tairov . Tairov Residential Area
The first projects of the future "high-rise" housing estate at this place were laid in the General Plan of 1966. To realize these plans, implementing direct avenues and large quarters, a massive demolition of the already existing private sector, built by settlers only about 5-10 years ago with their own hands, was required. So, in the very beginning of the 1970s, neighborhoods west of the Lustdorf Road were demolished, and in the 1980s it was the turn of houses between Williams and Architects. However, residents of the village, "cutting" the new housing estate into two parts, were forbidden to make new buildings and expand existing ones.
Since 1968, Tairova has been built up with 9 floors and panel “Khrushchevs”. They were arranged in straight rows, dividing the space into huge courtyards. Architects aptly dubbed such a building with identical houses “logging”.
The new district was interesting in terms of population. If at Cheryomushki and the village of Kotovsky most of the houses were corporate and belonged either to the NWP, or to institutes, factories, departments, etc., then they began to mix the order lines on Tairov. In just three years, from 1976 to 1978, 4,425 such families moved into new apartments.
The village was built quickly and formed in its current borders by 1977. At the same time, the development of the Shkolny microdistrict began, where houses were built according to improved projects. In the summer of 1972, Passage and Detsky Mir appeared in the new district. The first schools opened, the training in which at first went in 2 shifts.
South Housing Estate
The next milestone in the development of the district was the construction of the Yuzhny housing estate . In the "South" there were no "Khrushchev", but there were many 16-story buildings. Here they build houses, divided into sections and forming a complex configuration. This was supposed to revive the image of the area in the conditions of construction assault. In addition, 16% of the housing stock was accounted for by brick houses, which retained heat better and conducted less sound. Thus, the southern outskirts of Odessa immediately became almost an elite area.
The first phase of Yuzhny, covering the space between Glushko Avenue and Williams Street, was mostly completed by 1985, and the finishing touch was the 9-storey building of the Kislorodmash factory in 98 Akademika Koroleva Street, 98, which closes the area around Tairov Square .
Subsequently, the outskirts of the "South" again repeatedly turned into the main construction site of the city. In particular, in 1987-1990, most of the 100 rooms appeared along Koroleva Street, and in 2004-2008 several large complexes were commissioned on Williams and Architectskaya Streets.
Vuzovsky Housing Estate
The experimental construction site of that time was the Vuzovsky microdistrict, named after the hostels of the Odessa Institute of National Economy built here in 1986. The original plan included the creation of a model area. On an area of 30 hectares, it was planned to build houses for 2976 apartments, 2 schools, 2 kindergartens, a supermarket, a food store, several cafes, a post office, a consumer services center, boiler rooms and, in addition, 20 playgrounds for adults, 20 for children and 15 sports grounds.
