Biography
Born in the noble family of the old German-Polish family Gerke . His father, a virtuoso pianist and musical teacher, Anton Avgustovich Gerke, had the title of pianist of His Imperial Majesty Nicholas I. The father’s two brothers and sister were excellent musical instrument performers. The Gerke family had a long musical tradition, three generations seriously engaged in music.
Received a good home education. In 1861 he graduated from the Imperial College of Law in St. Petersburg. After graduating from college he served as an official in the 1st Department of the Governing Senate.
In 1864 - 1866 comrade of the Kherson Chamber of the new civil court. In 1866 - 1868 he served as a associate prosecutor of the St. Petersburg district court.
In 1868, he joined the estate of attorneys and became a attorney at the St. Petersburg District Court of Justice. In 1890 he transferred to the civil service, was appointed a member of the consultation with the Minister of Justice. In 1893, the senator of the civil cassation department of the Governing Senate.
Died February 27, 1902 in St. Petersburg . He was buried at the Volkov Lutheran cemetery .
