Dalmatius (died in 254 or 304) is a holy martyr from Pedona . Memorial Day - December 5th .
Saint Dalmatius ( Italian: San Dalmazzo, Dalmazio , Dalmatius of Pavia), according to him, was a priest in the north of Italy , but there is no authentic information about the century in which he lived, or about how he passed to the Lord. [one]
St. Dalmatia is venerated in Pedon (modern Borgo San Dalmazzo ). His life was compiled in the 7th or 8th century , probably by a monk from the monastery of Pedona, in Lombardy , on the basis of oral tradition. [one]
According to this life, sv. Dalmatius was born in Forum Germarzorum (modern San Damiano Macra ) and became a clergyman and preacher in Pedon. [1] In the X century, when the surroundings of Pedona were devastated by Muslims, the relics of St. Dalmatia was transferred to Quariento , where the grave says: [H] ic requiescit corpus sancti Dalmatii repositum ab Audace episcopo Astensi . In France , according to tradition dating back to the 9th century, Saint Dalmatius was a martyr. Later traditions report that he evangelized many cities in Piedmont, Emilia and Gaul and was killed for the faith. [2]
Roman Martyrology , relying on erroneous lists of bishops, examines St. Dalmatia as Bishop of Pavia . [2]
