The son of Raymond I de Bo and Stefanetta of Provence. After the death of his father, he inherited his possessions and claims to the county of Provence . In September 1150, he signed with Raymond Berenguer II the world that ended the first Bossan war , but did not accept defeat, and, receiving in 1155 from Frederick Barbarossa a confirmation of the bulla about infeodation issued by Conrad III to his father, he resumed the fight. The second (1155–1156) and third (1160–1162) bossan wars ended in the complete defeat of de Bo's house, which had lost most of its possessions.
A few years later, King Alfons II of Aragon , needing allies to fight the Count of Toulouse , reconciled with his brother Hugo Bertrand de Bo , but Hugo himself, according to legend, was unbearable as a vassal of the King of Aragon, and he handed over the seigneur Bo to his son Raymond II, and he left for Sardinia. According to legend, there he became the founder of the dynasty of the rulers of Arborea .
