Piero de Palma ( Italian: Piero de Palma , 1924 (1925?), Molfetta - April 5, 2013 , Milan ) is an Italian opera singer, tenor , best known as a performer of the parties of the comprimio [1] .

De Palma began his solo opera career in 1948 with a performance on the RAI radio. Prior to this, the singer conducted concert activities and worked in the choir. The stage debut took place in 1952 at the Neapolitan Theater of San Carlo , where de Palma regularly appeared on stage until 1980. Soon the singer was heard at the Roman Opera and at the Florentine Musical May , and then invitations from theaters across Italy began to arrive: de Palma performed in Genoa, Palermo, Catania, Trieste, Bergamo, participated in performances in the Thermae of Caracalla and the Arena di Verona . In 1958, Pierrot de Palma made his debut in La Scala . For several seasons, the singer performed at the Dallas Opera House , and the Metropolitan Opera appeared on the stage only in 1992 as Dr. Cayus ( Falstaff by J. Verdi ), completing a long stage career.
Pierrot de Palma played mainly characteristic roles and gained a reputation as an unsurpassed performer of supporting roles (Komprimario). He had a beautiful voice, excellent diction and was an outstanding actor. Over the years of his career, the singer has performed about two hundred roles, the best of which are considered to be the unforgettable Harlequin (“ Pagliacci ” by R. Leoncavallo ), Doctor Cayus (“Falstaff”) and Pong (“ Turandot ” by J. Puccini ), don’s notable parties are Basilio (“ Wedding Figaro ”by V. A. Mozart ), Normann (“ Lucia di Lammermoor ” G. Donizetti ), Malcolm (“ Macbeth ”Verdi), Borsa (“ Rigoletto ”Verdi), Gaston (“ La Traviata ”Verdi), Cassio (“ Othello ” Verdi) Spoletta ( " longing " Puccini), Edmond ( " Manon Lesko " Puccini), Goro ( " Madame Butterfly " Puccini) Spolantsani ( " Tales of Hoffman " J. Of Jenbach ), and others. De Palma was considered a universal artist, capable of playing the roles of both traditional and modern repertoire.
From the 50s to the 80s, more than 130 opera recordings were performed with the participation of Pierrot de Palma, in many of them the singer performed several different parts.
In the work of de Palma, the traditions of such Italian masters as Nessi , Carlin , as well as Mercuriali and Andreolli , who provided significant assistance to the singer at the beginning of his opera career, were continued.
He performed on the same stage with artists such as Maria Callas, Renata Tebaldi, Magda Olivero, Joan Sutherland, Marilyn Horn, Cossotto, Juliet Simionato, Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Carreras and many others.
