Arne Hermlin ( est. Aarne Hermlin ; June 6, 1940 , Võru - November 17, 2007 , Salo , Finland ) - Estonian chess player , Estonian champion in chess (1968), master of sports of the USSR ( 1969 ), international master ICCF ( 1986 ).

Biography
In 1958 he graduated from school in the Estonian city of Jõgev . He began to study chess under the influence of his father Kaarel Hermlin (1905–1960), who was a chess coach in Jõgeva. In 1956 and 1957, he won the Estonian Junior Championship. In 1968, he shared second place with Andrei Peterson at the Baltic Championship in chess . [1] In 1975, together with Viktor Kupreychik, he won the tournament in Pärnu . [2] In the Estonian Chess Championships, he won gold (1968), silver (1981) and 2 bronze medals (1965, 1984). [3] He also actively participated in chess competitions by correspondence, becoming an international master of the ICCF. [4] He died during a chess tournament in Finland. [five]
