Geography
The village of Podlesnoye is located 13 km from the administrative center of the district - the town of Sosnovka , on the banks of the river Chelnovaya .
History
The first name of the village is “Kazinki”, later it was called Lower (Small) Navels (from “navel” - “height”). The date of foundation of the village is considered to be 1648. The copies of the scribe books of Prince D. Nesvitsky from 1650-1652 contain the first mention of the village: "The village of Maly Pupki on the river Chelnova between the goat’s neck ." At that time there were 55 yards in the village and 220 people lived. [2]
Here, starting from the 14th century, a “watch stitch” passed along the Chelnova River, on which “equestrian military men” patrolled, watching the emergence of the Tatar troops. These people reported on the results to the cities of Shatsk , Ryazan and Moscow . The watch service lasted 70 years, until the reign of Peter I.
Until 1917, it was Malopupkovskaya volost of the Kozlovsky district of the Tambov province .
In the center of the village was a wooden church and a monument to Tsar Alexander II . There were two schools: Zemstvo and parish.
In the Soviet period, in mid-1918, the Socialist-Revolutionary uprising began, in 1920 - the Antonov uprising. The first collective farm “Red Banner” was organized in 1929. During the Great Patriotic War, more than 800 residents went to the front, 413 died. In memory of them, the villagers erected the obelisk “They Fought for the Motherland”.
In 1959, by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR, the village of Nizhny Pupki was renamed Podlesnoye [3] .
