Shefov, Alexander Nikolaevich

Aleksandr Nikolayevich Shefov ( February 17, 1932 - January 25, 2013 [1] ) - Soviet and Russian historian , museum figure. Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR , laureate of the USSR State Prize ( 1986 ).

Biography

Shefov was born in Moscow , a native Muscovite. Great-grandfather - Nikolai Alexandrovich Naydenov , one of the leaders of the Moscow merchants , grandmother - Honored Artist of the RSFSR Elizaveta Ivanovna Naydenova [1] .

In 1955 he graduated from the Moscow State Historical and Archival Institute . After graduation, he was invited to become a researcher and custodian of the funds of the then-prepared I.V. Stalin House-Museum in Volyn .

Soon after the debunking of the personality cult of Stalin , the disbandment of the funds of the never-opened museum began, and Shefov became a researcher in the stock department of the Central Museum of V.I. Lenin .

Since 1966, he headed the museum-cabinet and Lenin’s apartment in the Moscow Kremlin . Under his leadership, a museum exposition of the Lenin memorial was created, scientific restoration of exhibits was carried out, recordings of the leader’s voice were recreated.

Shefov became the author of a number of works, the theme of which is the Leninian ("Lenin in Fine Arts", the play "Highlanders at Lenin"). In 1974, Shefov was awarded the degree of candidate of historical sciences [1] .

After retiring, he actively collaborated with the historical and sports sections of the Moscow House of Scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences , took part in the preparation of historical and cultural publications and exhibitions on the history of the Moscow merchants, actions of the Museum of Russian Patrons and Entrepreneurs and the Moscow Local History Society.

In all, Shefov wrote more than 50 works on culture and history of the USSR and Russia [1] .

In the last years of his life, Alexander Nikolaevich worked as a researcher at the Center for Press and Public Relations of the Federal Security Service of Russia [1] .

He died on January 25, 2013; the farewell took place at the Central Hospital of the FSB of Russia [1] . He was buried in Moscow at the Kalitnikovsky cemetery [2] .
