The 108th [1] World Championship in speed skating in classical all-around was held on March 22-23, 2014 at the Tialf indoor ice rink in Heerenveen ( Netherlands ). The world champion in men was the representative of the Netherlands, Kun Vervey , the women were convincingly defeated by the representative of the Netherlands, Irene Wust , who won three of four distances. The Russians successfully performed at the championship - Olga Graf took the second place, and Denis Yuskov - the third place, while both improved their personal records.

Members
According to the results of last year’s World Cup, quotas from continents were formed, and according to the results of qualifying tournaments in the 2013/2014 season, quotas from countries were formed for participation in the World Cup. For men and women, 24 participants were expected, but 24 athletes and 22 athletes from 14 countries participated in the championship. For the first time in 60 years, skaters from Germany did not take part [2] . Also, multiple world champion Sven Kramer did not participate due to health problems, and the world champion of 2009 and 2010, Martina Sablikova, did not participate in women. At the last distance, 8 best skaters took part in three distances [3] .
