Geography
Located approximately 48 km southwest of the district center.
History
It was founded in 1916. According to the 1926 census of the USSR, the village of Ust-Shilbey as part of the Novonikolsky village council of the Ziminsky district, 53 yards, 235 residents (122 men and 113 women) [2] .
In 1966, the village of Verkhnyaya Shchelbey as part of the Zulumai village council [3] .
On a topographic map of the General Staff of the USSR in 1984 is designated as Upper Ust-Shilbey [4] . On the map of 1985 - as Upper Shchelbey [5]

According to the All-Russian Census , in 2010, 23 people (12 men and 11 women) lived in the village (taking into account the village of Nizhny Shchelbey) [8] .
