Design

Conceptually, the bus was based on the usual B732 , but the main feature of this bus was an aluminum body, as well as a much more modern design and a lower floor level, which significantly distinguished it from the “classic” B732 . On the right side, the bus has three automatic double doors. For the driver, a door is provided on the left side, which opens manually. The seats in the cabin are located according to the 1 + 2 scheme, on the wheel arches - 2 + 2. This bus got its name “Legobus” due to the fact that in a fairly quick time (several tens of minutes) it can be transformed depending on the required functions: for example, change the number of doors.

Production and Operation

Legobus did not go into mass production, as the plant chose a slower and easier way to modernize the model range - in 1995, the Karosa B932 was created. The only Legobus released in 1993 (also labeled B19) was transferred to the Technical Museum of Brno as an exhibit, where, along with other museum buses and trolleybuses, it participates in exhibitions.

For some time the bus was used for its intended purpose: there is evidence that the Legobus was regularly used in the city of Prague , where it had tail number 3002 and was assigned to the bus depot in Vrsovice.

Since in 1995 there was not enough space for this bus in the Technical Museum of Brno , it was decided to use Legobus on city routes in Brno . The manufacturer did not give consent, therefore, in 1997-2005, the bus was rented by the airport of Turany . The manufacturer was against the use of this bus for the transport of passengers, as the bus did not meet the necessary standards and requirements. A test sample was created in order to test the functionality of Alusuisse technology, which provides for the creation of a body of aluminum modules. From the very beginning, the use of this technology did not look realistic, this is largely due to the fact that the prices of imported components were too high. All this led to the fact that the plant preferred a different path of development.
