Biography
Pyotr Fitkevich was born on May 9, 1927 in the village of Mokryansky Khutor (now the Bykhovsky district of the Mogilev region of Belarus ). After graduating from seven classes of the school, he worked on a collective farm , at construction sites. In October 1941 he was under occupation, joined a partisan detachment, and was a scout. After the liberation of his native places, Fitkevich worked as the foreman of the field-crop brigade on the collective farm. In 1945 - 1951 he served in the Soviet Army [1] .
Demobilized, he returned to the Mogilev region. He graduated from the Mogilev agricultural school for the training of leading personnel for collective farms. He was an ordinary collective farmer, then an agronomist, deputy chairman of the collective farm. Since May 1955 he headed the collective farm named after Georgi Dimitrov, then the collective farm named after Zhdanov [1] .
Since February 1968, Fitkevich worked as chairman of the Ilyich collective farm. For a fairly short period of time, this agricultural enterprise has achieved great performance. From 43 to 47 centners of grain were harvested by collective farmers a year, thanks to developed livestock production, about 1,200 tons of meat were produced annually, as well as about 4,000 liters of milk from each cow. The Fitkevich collective farm has repeatedly become the winner of socialist competitions at the republican and union levels [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 27, 1976 for "outstanding achievements in the All-Union Socialist Competition, manifested labor prowess in fulfilling plans and socialist commitments to increase the production and sale of grain, potatoes and other agricultural products to the state in 1976," Peter Fitkevich was awarded the high title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the medal "Hammer and Sickle" [1] .
Since July 1977, Fitkevich led the Dnepr inter-farm association, created on the basis of his collective farm. He was actively engaged in public activities, was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Belarusian SSR of the 10th convocation, regional and district councils, and the All-Belarusian People's Assembly. In 2001, he moved to the city of Fanipol , led the local committee of veterans. He died on October 8, 2013, and was buried in Fanipol [1] .
Honorary Citizen of Bykhov District. He was awarded two orders of Lenin, orders of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree and the Badge of Honor , a number of medals and diplomas [1] .
