Biography
Born in the town of Plissa . He was the fifth of seven children of Maurice Lerman and Miriam Levit , who emigrated to the United States in 1905. In 1918 he graduated with honors from the Fordham University College of Medicine. While working at St. Lawrence State Hospital in Ogdensberg , Lerman got acquainted with the well-known psychoanalyst A. A. Brill. Since 1921 member of the New York Psychoanalytic Society (was a member of the committee on education and the board of directors). He was a professor in the Department of Clinical Psychiatry and Neurology at Columbia University and New York University .
Lerman is the author of a dozen articles.
