  • Recent changes to the kinetoscope have been implemented, including the use of lifting mechanisms and wider screens. These changes actually became by 1909 the main technical characteristic of all silent films .
  • Max Skladanovsky makes improvements to his camera and shoots his first material this year. But his unusual way of constructing an image does not allow him to demonstrate the resulting picture until the end of 1895 , until the work on the ability of his bioscope to project the image is completed.
  • On October 18, the opening of the Théâtre Optique festival ( Eng. Théâtre Optique ) in which films are shown at the Grevin Museum in Paris .
  • William Dickson , assistant Thomas Edison , oversees the construction of the first film studio ( Black Mary ) in West Orange, New Jersey .
