Cecil Healey was born in 1881 in Sydney . In 1905, he won the Australian Championship at a distance of 110 yards. Cecil Healey became a promoter of the Australian Crawl swimming style.
In 1906, Cecil Healey was in the top five Australians, for whom funds were found to be sent to the Extraordinary Summer Olympics in 1906 , and became the third in the 100 m freestyle. After the Games, Cecil Healey toured Europe, promoting a new style of swimming among European swimmers.
In 1908, Cecil Healey again became the champion of Australia at a distance of 110 yards, but could not go to the Olympic Games in London due to lack of funds. In 1909 and 1910, he again became the champion of Australia.
In 1912, Cecil Healey went to the Olympic Games in Stockholm (Australia and New Zealand played a united team at the games - the team of Australasia), where he became the champion in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay and won the silver medal at the 100 m freestyle.
During World War I, Cecil Healey joined the Australian imperial forces in September 1915 and served as a sergeant quartermaster in Egypt and France. After passing officer courses in Cambridge, he was appointed in June 1918 as 2nd Lieutenant to the 19th Sports Battalion. In August 1918, he died during the Battle of the Somme .
