Biography
Initially, he practiced sculpture in the workshop of the mason Edward Stekhlik, after which he entered the Krakow School of Fine Arts in the class of Marcelius Guiski in 1870. Graduated from the School of Fine Arts in 1873. From 1874 to 1880 he lived in Lviv, and after returning to Krakow, where he worked in the workshop of the Stekhlikov and Trembetskys, and then in the studio of Valery Gadomsky.
He died on March 31, 1915 in Pelgrzhimov and was buried in the Rakovitsky cemetery in the XXIb quarter.
Creativity
He is the author of the following sculptures:
- Together with Alfred Down, he created several dozen busts in the park named after Henryk Jordan ;
- The sculpture group “The Polonaise Time Has Come” on the facade of the Juliusz Slowacki Theater in Krakow;
- Busts of Nikolai Copernicus and Jan Kilinsky in the building of the Cracow Magistrate;
- Sculpture of Pope Pius IX in collaboration with Valery of Gadom on the facade of the Cracow Church of Saints Peter and Paul ;
- Sculptures of Sigismund Augustus and Jan Sobieski in Streletsky park ;
- Several busts at the Rakovitsky cemetery.
- Monument to Tadeusz Kosciuszko in Rzeszow.
