History

The original name of the street - Torgovaya - is associated with the malls located here.

In 1890, the merchant A. A. Filbert built two two-story houses on 34-38 Torgovaya Street, where in 1894, under the name “Vienna Sausage and Gastronomy Facility A. Filbert and Co.” he organized the production of sausages, canned meat and fish, nelma balyk and sturgeon. By 1914, a canning factory was already operating here, producing up to 100 thousand boxes of 31 types of canned food. [1] [2]

On April 16, 1951, the street was renamed in honor of the pharmacologist, academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences N.V. Vershinin (1867-1951). [3]
