Eulima bilineata Alder , 1848

Biological Description

Sink approximately 6 mm long. The shells of adult mollusks are elongated, narrow, conical in shape, with 13 turns flattened laterally. The seams are very thin, from the inside and bottom side parallel to the false seams. The latter are more visible in young shells. The outer surface of the shell is smooth, with barely noticeable growth lines that become visible under reflected light. The shell is surrounded by two spiral brown stripes. The aperture is narrow, teardrop-shaped, rounded in the basal part, pointed at the top. The outer lip rises tangentially to the last turn between the two stripes [4] .

Lifestyle

As already mentioned, Eulima bilineata is a parasitic snail, its owner is the ophiura Ophiothrix fragilis , Ophiactis balli , Ophiopholis aculeata [5] .

Distribution

It occurs from the Mediterranean Sea to the Barents Sea [5] .
