Sergei Gavrilovich Rybakov ( September 27, 1867 - December 28, 1921 ) - ethnographer, folklorist. Contributed to the development of historiography, local history, folklore and musical ethnography.

Biography
Rybakov Sergey Gavrilovich was born on September 27, 1867 in the city of Samara.
He graduated from the course of St. Petersburg University in the historical and philological faculty. He received a musical education at the St. Petersburg Conservatory - took a course in composition theory [1] .
Since 1893 he traveled with ethnographic goals among the foreigners of eastern Russia and Turkestan .
He took part in ethnographic expeditions in the Ural-Volga region, including in 1893, 1894 and 1896 in Bashkortostan . After the expeditions, several scientific articles by Rybakov on Bashkir musical folklore, as well as musical compositions and arrangements of Bashkir, Tatar and Russian folk music for voice, choir and piano were published.
In 1893-1901 he was a member of the Russian Geographical Society .
Since 1898 he was a member of the Orenburg provincial scientific archival commission.
In 1899, Rybakov recorded 90 Turkmen , Tajik , Jewish and Russian folk songs on the phonograph.
In 1902-1908 worked as a peasant chief in the Turgai region . At that time, Rybakov collected about 100 Kyrgyz folk songs.
