Michael Kelly was born in 1872 in Galway , United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland . In 1888 he emigrated to the United States and settled in New York . In 1893 he joined the U.S. Army and served as a field engineer.
In 1920, having received American citizenship, Michael Kelly went to Belgium, where at the Olympic Games in Antwerp he became the champion in the team championship in shooting from an arbitrary pistol at a distance of 50 m and in the team championship in shooting from a fast pistol.
After the Olympics, Michael Kelly left the army and settled in Koblenz ( Germany ), where he lived until his death.
