Classification

The Siberian macaque was combined with the Pagai macaque , both of which were part of the Macaca nemestrina species (southern pig-tailed macaque), but this classification was recognized as polyphilic and according to the results of molecular studies in 2002, these species were separated. [1] [2]

Description

The hair on the back is almost black, and it is reddish on the sides and on the arms. Cheeks covered with light wool. The belly and throat are also light in color.
