Biography

Valentin Shlyakhovetsky was born on October 15, 1935 in Odessa in a family of teachers. At the beginning of the war, his father - a teacher of a technical school - was drafted into the army, Valentin and his mother went to the evacuation to the Urals in the town of Alapayevsk , in 1946 they returned to Odessa . In 1952 he graduated from school, entered the Odessa Technological Institute of Food and Refrigeration Industry with a degree in mechanical engineering and graduated in 1958 .

After graduation, he was sent to the Donbass in Konstantinovka as chief mechanic of the Gormolzavod, then transferred to the Avtosteklo-25 plant, where he worked as a team leader until July 1961 . At the same time, V. M. Shlyakhovetsky was engaged in teaching, working part-time at the Konstantinovsky Industrial Technical School. In July 1961, the family moved to Krasnodar, where V. Shlyakhovetsky worked at the Krasnodar Glass-Ceramic Factory, then as a teacher at the Krasnodar Machine-Tool Engineering College, where the department of refrigeration and compressor machines and installations opened in 1961 . The first graduation of specialists took place in 1963.

In 1964, a cooling section was organized at the Krasnodar Polytechnic Institute , now KubGTU, at the Technological Equipment Department, which was then allocated to a separate department of Refrigeration and compression machines and installations, and its first manager, I. V. Tatabrin, invited Valentin Mikhailovich to work at this department. The first issue took place in 1967 . V. Shlyakhovetsky has always considered Professor V. Martynovsky, the rector of the Odessa Institute of Refrigeration Technology, to be his professional and scientific mentor.

In 1970, V. M. Shlyakhovetsky defended his thesis on the topic “Investigation of optimal schemes of refrigeration units for energy technological systems of low-temperature separation of natural gas”. In 1975, V. M. was elected head of the department of refrigeration and compression machines and installations. Graduates of the department work in the most important enterprises of the Krasnodar Territory. In 1994, V.M. defended his doctoral thesis on the topic "Jet gas-dynamic devices for contact cooling of food products." In the same year he was awarded the title of professor .

For many years, V. M. Shlyakhovetsky was a member of the editorial board of the magazine “Refrigeration Technique”, and then “Bulletin of the International Academy of Refrigeration”. He published 340 scientific papers, and also received 94 copyright certificates and patents for inventions. He was a member of the academic council of the KubGTU and KNIIHP of the Russian Agricultural Academy .

He died on November 8, 2002 in Krasnodar after a serious illness. He was buried in the Slavic cemetery .
