Death

V. Peskov writes about the circumstances of death: “I met Michio in Alaska - we looked at his photo album together. Filmed in Alaska, he only bears. And in Kamchatka too. In the photographic world, they knew him as an inveterate "bear cub." This time he flew to Kamchatka with a group of TV reporters who decided to take pictures of how Hoshino hunts bears without arms ... Everything was successfully filmed. The group was delayed for another day - something, as always, had to be finished. Sleep lay down on the bunk in a well-known close to me hut. Michio, saying: "Stuffy," - went to sleep in a tent next to the hut. Delicately hinted at bears walking nearby. "I am not touched ..." - as if the photographer laughed. And at night in the hut woke up from a terrible scream. We ran out with flashlights and saw the picture that shook everyone: a large bear was dragging the hero-photographer into the grass and did not let it out of his teeth, despite the heart-rending cries of "rescuers" who did not know what to do. In the morning, a helicopter was called up on the radio. Near the hut they saw a bear sleeping in the grasses. He tried to escape, but was shot. In the same place a half-eaten corpse of the photographer was discovered ” [2] .
