Reviews
The track “Kanaan” became a wonderful beginning of the album, offering a mixture of thundering power of rock, strings and sitar , male vocals and wordless backing tracks by Renate Knaup in the background. Luzifers Ghilom show psychedelic folk with an emphasis on bongs Shrat, while the band tries to play heroic rock with moderately insane vocal inserts and exclamations. As a result, the track turned out not pompous, and not stupid - a rare example of a successful combination of the high and the absurd in one piece. The title track takes up the entire second side of the vinyl record. This is a complex work that never loses a cheerful mood. After a quiet introduction, the first minutes consist of a variety of hum and noise, approaching and receding, bringing to the game the entire composition of musicians, which grows and jumps with restrained and obscure power. Suddenly, in the middle comes the climax, when all members of the group play a series of tunes in unison with drum beats in the background. After a brief solo on the violin, everything is resolved by an excellent percussion jam, in which the whole band joins, including Carrera's insane vocals. [2] .
In 1969, Amon Düül II released a curious, unusually frantic album, just before the massive Yeti and Dance of the Lemmings . Musically, the band produces a kind of psychedelic rock , largely based on continuous jam , with a certain sense of humor, a large volume of rough guitar parts and a few gentle violin parts (on the title track). A lot of used percussion and witch, ghostly voice of Renate Knaup. A characteristic example was the first track, representing the typical sound of Amon Düül II - intense and primitive rock with a lot of cosmic effects. In general, “Phallus Dei” fascinates and perfectly demonstrates the creative spirit of Amon Düül II [3] .
