Hair-toothed [1] , or hair-toothed [2] ( lat. Trichodontidae ) , is a family of marine ray-finned fish from the order of scorpiform [3] . Previously included in the order perch-shaped [1] .

Length hairy to 25-30 cm. Their bodies are strongly compressed from the sides. They have a silver color with brown spots on the back. They have two dorsal fins, the caudal fin is straight or with a notch, the pectoral fins with a wide, setting down the anterior bottom. Mouth obliquely directed upwards, large, with fringed lips. Thin sharp teeth are located on the jaws in the form of strips.
Toothfish live in the North Pacific from Kamchatka and Alaska to Korea and California.
Predators. They lurk their prey buried in the sand so that only their eyes and mouth stick out.
