Biography
Vasily Goncharov was born in March 1894 on the farm Dolgi Salsky district of the Don Army in the family of a peasant . After graduating from rural school he worked in agriculture. In February 1916, Goncharov was called up to serve in the tsarist army. He participated in the battles of the First World War , was an artilleryman on the Turkish front . After the February Revolution led the divisional committee. In February 1918 he went to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He participated in the battles of the Civil War, being the commander of an artillery platoon, battery. In 1919, he was seriously contused in battle. Repeatedly distinguished in battles [1] .
By order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic No. 41 in 1921, the commander of the battery of the 4th cavalry artillery division, Vasily Goncharov, was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of the RSFSR [2] .
After the end of the Civil War, Goncharov continued his service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1924 he graduated from the Higher Artillery School of commanders, in 1931 - advanced training courses for commanders, in 1936 - Military Academy named after M. Frunze . Member of the CPSU (b) since 1931.
Participated in the battles of World War II. He commanded the artillery of the 34th Army of the North-Western Front .
By order of Lev Mehlis, Goncharov was shot on September 11, 1941, extrajudicially in front of the army headquarters for non-compliance with the order of the front command and failure to take measures to save the materiel. On October 15, 2002, by the decision of the Chief Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation, Goncharov was recognized as a victim of unreasonable repression and posthumously rehabilitated [1] .
According to some reports, he was buried near the village of Zaborovye, Valdai district of the Novgorod region [3] .
