Chamo is a lake in the southwestern part of Ethiopia , in the Region of Southern nationalities, nationalities and peoples . Located in the East African Rift, at an altitude of 1110 m above sea level. It is located south of the larger lake Abaya and the city of Arba-Mynch , east of the Guge mountains.

The northern tip of the lake is located within the borders of the Nechisar National Park. According to the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia, the lake is 32 km long and 13 km wide, the area of the water mirror is 317 km², the maximum depth is 14 m, the catchment area is approximately 18,757 km² [1] [2] . Other sources indicate a height of 1235 m above sea level, a length of 26 m, a width of 22 m, a maximum depth of 10 m, a mirror area of 551 km² and a catchment area of 2220 km² [3] .
Along the shore of the lake grows cattail. The Kulfo River flows into the lake, as well as several smaller streams.
