Biography

Born on October 24 ( November 5 ), 1832 in Kainsk (now the city of Kuybyshev, Novosibirsk Region) in the family of an exiled settler. He graduated from Kazan University with a gold medal, which he received for his thesis "On Trade Relations between Russia and the East."

He collaborated in the publication by A. Lax of the Moscow Review magazine (1859), which soon ceased to exist [2] .

In 1861, he wrote his most famous book, “On the Forms of Industry in General and on the Importance of Home Production (Handicraft and Home Industry) in Western Europe and Russia,” which V. I. Lenin subsequently spoke positively in “ The Development of Capitalism in Russia ”. He translated the capital works - Rocher “On the grain trade”, Kolba “Comparative statistics”. From 1864-1866 he edited the "Collection of information and materials for the Ministry of Finance."

Alexander Korsak died on March 1 (13), 1874 .
