History
The first written mention of the castle in Dobrish is found in 1252, when it was the royal residence. King Wenceslas I stayed here, c 1262, belonged to the Czech aristocratic family Rožmberk . Due to its convenient location, Dobris was highly valued and again passed into the possession of King Johan of Luxemburg , who decided to build a well-fortified castle here. The settlement that emerged below the castle became a city that often suffered during the Hussite Wars .
Now the castle looks like a palace, remotely similar to Versailles . The modern look dates back to the years 1745-1765. Built in the style of refined Rococo with luxurious facades, made in the style of French Baroque and adjacent to the castle park, sustained in the same French style.
Before the Second World War, the castle belonged to the aristocratic Austrian tribe of Prince Colloredo- Mansfeld. After the end of the war in 1945, the castle was nationalized by the Czechoslovak state, and became the “House of the Writer”.
After the adoption of the law on restitution in 1998, it was returned to the descendants of the genus Colloredo-Mansfeld in private ownership. The current owner lives in Austria.
Today Dobris Castle is a popular tourist attraction. Now this castle is a record for the number of weddings and other corporate events held in it.
