Frontilabrus caeruleus is described in 1989 on a single copy. This only representative (male) was caught as a young individual near the Maldives and was raised in 1985–1986 in the Museum-Aquarium of the University of Nancy , reaching a length of 9.4 cm. The population of the species F. caeruleus is unknown, however, apparently, this the population is small and its range is limited. It is also unknown what threats this species may be exposed to [2] .
