Scoop - fishing equipment in the form of a large flat spoon with many small holes for the passage of water.
Designed to extract fine ice or snow caused by the wind, or ice, which draws the surface of the water in the hole during winter fishing .
There are three basic designs for winter fishing scoops:
- mesh steel wire;
- plastic;
- stamped from steel in the form of a cook .
The fastest ice and sludge is removed by a mesh scoop, it is lightweight, convenient, noiseless in operation, which is important when fishing with careful fish, its main drawback is its low strength and, as a result, its durability.
A plastic scoop is appreciated for its low weight, buoyancy and the convenience of an almost non-freezing spoon, which is also easy to free from ice with a simple squeeze by hand, but in severe frosts, knobs are often broken and cannot be knocked down from the ice drill and not cleaned the holes trapped in the cold. The usual "classic" metal scoop has a round or oval cup, sometimes it is sharpened from one edge or made with teeth. If the scoop is oval in shape with front teeth, they sometimes manage to free the spoon or mormyshka , which is caught on the lower edge of the hole, unless, of course, the length of the handle allows, which is desirable to be painted in bright color.
The scoop handle is usually made of wood, coated with foam or cork. The length of the handle is about 40-50 cm.
