General Information
The Võru flag is a green flag, which depicts 8 white parallelograms arranged in the shape of an eight-pointed star . It is believed that this sign brings good luck and protects the poor. Eight segments of the sign symbolize eight ancient Kõhelkondas of Võru County - Urvaste , Kanapi , Põlva , Ryapina , Vastseliina , Rõuge , Khargla , Karula . The green color of the cloth means the forest, and the white - an honest and pure soul.
History
The first version of the Võru flag was developed in the 1980s, when a movement began to revive the Võru culture. In 2004, another version of the Võru flag was created. It is a yellow-blue-green-blue circle on a green background. In 2013, the first version of the flag was chosen as the official ethnic symbol.
