In 1908, Mikhail Mordovtsev joined the CPSU (B.) . During his revolutionary activities he was repeatedly persecuted. He was elected as a deputy at the I and later at the II Congress of Soviets of Workers 'and Soldiers' Deputies of the Terek Region . During the occupation by the White Guards of the Terek Soviet Republic, the Caucasian Regional Committee of the CPSU (B.) Sent Mikhail Mordovtsev to the North Caucasus to organize a partisan movement.
In 1920 he was appointed chairman of the Vladikavkaz Revolutionary Committee. He died in 1920 in Vladikavkaz.
