Career

Mikhail Vanichkin was born on May 22, 1956 in Moscow . By nationality - Russian . Since 1974 he has been working in the internal affairs bodies . After graduating from the Moscow Higher School of Militia of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR in 1980 with a degree in Jurisprudence, he devoted himself to work in the criminal wanted list. He walked his way from the inspector of ESD of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Volgograd district executive committee of the city of Moscow to the head of the 6th department (for the fight against banditry) of the CID of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of Moscow (MUR) [1] .

In 1994, he was transferred to the Main Directorate for Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the position of senior security officer for particularly important cases, but soon returned to the CID of the Moscow Main Directorate of Internal Affairs , becoming the head of the department for combating illicit arms trafficking in Moscow.

In 1997, he again transferred to the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia to the post of deputy head of this department. Since 1999, he acted as head of the department, and in 2000 he fully headed this department [1] .

From 2001 to 2002, he was Head of the National Interpol Bureau at the Ministry of the Interior of Russia [1] .

In July 2002, he was appointed Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region , and for the position he also joined the Government of St. Petersburg [2] [3] . On November 14, 2006, Vanichkin left the Main Internal Affairs Directorate and, until 2011, worked as an assistant to the Minister of the Interior of the Russian Federation [4] .

In 2009 , after the resignation of Colonel-General Vladimir Pronin from the post of Chief of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the city of Moscow , information appeared in the media about the possible appointment of Mikhail Vanichkin to the post [5] [6] [7] [8] . According to the acting Minister of the Interior Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Mikhail Vanichkin is one of the leading specialists in the fight against organized crime in Russia, and also has tremendous professional experience [20] [21] .

In May 2013, as a result of the annual report of high-ranking employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on their incomes, it turned out that Mikhail Vanichkin earned the most among the Deputy Ministers of the Interior last year [22] . He also entered the twenty richest security officials according to the Russian magazine Forbes [23] . His income for 2012 amounted to 28.5 million rubles.
