Content
Description
Small insects, less than 5 mm long. The head is oblong, almost conical. Antennae 4- or 5-segmented. The pronotum is separated from the rest of the breast, but the mesonotum, methanotum and 1st tergite of the first abdominal segment are fused. Six III spiracles are located on the III – VIII abdominal segments [1] . They differ from other representatives of Amblycera in the absence of labial palps [3] .
In Europe, they were recorded on passerine birds from the families: Oriolidae , Fringillidae , Alaudidae , Motacillidae , Prunellidae , Sylviidae , Troglodytidae , Muscicapidae , Paridae , Turdidae, and Bombycillidae [4] [5] .
