Union of Polish Youth , SPM ( Polish. Związek Młodzieży Polskiej , ZMP ) is a political youth organization in People's Poland , a member of the World Federation of Democratic Youth .

Content
History
The Union of Polish Youth arose in 1948 as a result of the union of four Polish youth organizations:
- The Young Wrestling Union ( Związek Walki Młodych, ZWM ) - arose in 1942, was the youth section of the Polish Workers' Party (PPR)
- ( Organizacja Młodzieży Towarzystwa Uniwersytetu Robotniczego, OM TUR ) - originated in 1926, was the youth section of the Polish Socialist Party (PPS)
- Union of Rural Youth of the Polish Republic “Wichi” ( Związek Młodzieży Wiejskiej RP “Wici”, ZMW RP “Wici” ) - arose in 1928, was the youth section of the Peasant Party
- Union of Democratic Youth ( Związek Młodzieży Demokratycznej, ZMD ) - arose in 1945, was the youth section of the Democratic Party .
These organizations became part of the Central Committee for the Unity of Youth Organizations, and then merged into one organization on July 21, 1948 during the Congress of Youth Unity in Wroclaw .
In 1950, the Student Union of Academic Polish Youth ( Związek Akademickiej Młodzieży Polskiej, ZAMP ) was also included in the JMP, and then in 1951 the Organizacja Harcerska was also included in the structure of the JMP.
In 1955, SPM, together with the WFDM, was a co-organizer of the 5th World Festival of Youth and Students in Warsaw .
The Union of Polish Youth ceased operations in 1956 due to changes in the highest authorities of the country ( B. Bierut died in March, in June there were demonstrations in Poznan , in October V. Gomulka became the first secretary of the PUWP Central Committee). The organization was unleashed on January 11, 1957 during the Vth plenum of the Main Directorate of the JMP.
Ideology
Since the merger of the PPR and PPS (in December 1948), the SPM has become the youth section of the Polish United Workers Party (PORP), created like the Soviet Komsomol .
